Before the first cascade and after the last one

6x9 is the grid of Retro Tapes, a music and neon slot with six cassette colours. Five or more adjacent cassettes of the same symbol form a win. Those winning cassettes cascade and collapse, and the grid fills again. This Cluster Link mechanic runs on every spin of the base game.

Nine features set the game apart, from Sticky Wild and Retrigger to Magnetic Symbol and Wild Multiplier. The Top Charts Feature starts when three or more Wild Tape Symbols land anywhere on the grid. Three, four, five or six of them give 6, 8, 10 or 12 Free Spins. Carried-over symbols stick, and the grid fills every empty spot until the round auto-completes.

Retro Tapes guide

Follow one round from start to feature

Not knowing the order of events on a spin is the worry this guide removes.

  1. Choosing your amount before spinning

A$0.10 is the lowest bet and A$100 the highest here, so you pick a stake before the first spin. Every win and the 10,000x win cap are counted from that bet.

  2. Look for five matching cassettes

The 6x9 grid forms a win when 5 or more adjacent cassettes match. Winning symbols clear and new ones drop in, which can set off another win.

  3. Note which symbols stay put

9 features are listed, from Cluster Pays and Tumble to Sticky Wild and Retrigger. Carried-over Wild Tape symbols stick in place during a Top Charts round.

  4. Top Charts Feature trigger

3 Wild Tape symbols anywhere on the grid start the Top Charts Feature. 3, 4, 5 or 6 symbols give 6, 8, 10 or 12 Free Spins.

  5. Before the first spin, not after

A$5 is one example bet, and every spin is charged that same stake. How long a session lasts and what it returns cannot be known in advance.

Paying up for the Retro Tapes bonus

100x the bet buys Free Spins, 400x buys Super Free Spins, and the price in money at the example bet sits in the table.

Catch the Wild Tapes anywhere

3+ Wild Tape Symbols landing anywhere start this round on their own, giving 6/8/10/12 Free Spins for 3/4/5/6 symbols. Carried-over Wild Tape and Instant Prize symbols stick in place. The grid fills every empty position until none remain, then the round auto-completes.

Base gameFree Spins

Opening it at 100x the base bet

Opened by a purchase at 100x the base bet. Up to 6 Wild Tape Symbols can land and convert during the round, at RTP 96.71%. The base bet sets the price, so a higher base bet raises the cost.

The 400x round and its random value

A purchase at 400x the base bet opens this round, four times the price of the Free Spins / Singles Feature. At most 6 Wild Tape Symbols can convert. A Wild Multiplier Symbol with a random value converts every time. The RTP is 96.71%.

Before your first Retro Tapes spin

96.47% and 96.71% are the long-run return figures for the two RTP versions of Retro Tapes, measured over very many rounds. How often the bonus round comes is not known in advance. The result of one session is random whatever the RTP, so a session can end above or below the bet total at any point.

96.71% is the higher of the two versions. Which version a table runs is shown only in the game rules, so read them before the first spin. The other version, 96.47%, pays slightly less over the long run, and one session can still go either way.

x10,000 is the cap on a win, measured against the bet you placed. The ceiling is reached very rarely, so a top prize is not a result to plan around. At the A$10 example bet, that cap is A$100,000.

Retro Tapes basics

Retro Tapes, short and direct answers

Short answers on bets, free spins, volatility and the cost of the paid features.

Can I buy the Retro Tapes free spins and what do they cost?

A$1,000 buys the Free Spins (Singles Feature) and A$4,000 buys the Super Free Spins (Hits Feature), both at the A$10 example top bet. Each price is 100x or 400x the base bet. The Super version also converts a guaranteed random-value Wild Multiplier Symbol.

Can I try Retro Tapes in demo mode before I bet real money?

50.00 fun at a 0.50 base bet is the Free Spins price, and 200.00 fun is the Super Free Spins price. Fun is a separate currency from A$, so these amounts do not show real money costs.

What is the minimum and maximum bet on Retro Tapes?

A$0.10 is the lowest bet and A$100 the highest allowed in Australia. The tables use A$0.20, A$5 and A$10 only as examples, and those examples are not the limits of the game.

How do I trigger the free spins in Retro Tapes?

3 Wild Tape Symbols landing anywhere start the Top Charts Feature. Three symbols give 6 Free Spins, four give 8, five give 10 and six give 12.

How volatile is Retro Tapes and how big can a win get?

10,000x the current bet is the win cap, which is A$100,000 at the A$10 example top bet. Volatility is high, so results swing widely, and no one can know in advance how often a big win or the bonus arrives.

Fun ends first, not the balance

18+ only. In Australia, call the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 or join BetStop, the national self-exclusion register.

Fix the session money first

A$10 per spin adds up quickly on a high volatility slot, so decide the session money before opening Retro Tapes.

Retro Tapes 10,000x win cap

The 10,000x win cap can make one hit feel like a reason to continue. Fix your stop point before the first spin and hold it after a win.

Deposit and loss limits

A$100 is the top bet, so one spin can take a large share of a small budget. Set deposit and loss limits in your account before you play.

A break beats chasing losses

96.47% is a long-run average, not a promise for one session. When play stops being fun, take a break or self-exclude through BetStop.
